Former School Assistants Needs an intervention to finish the months they did not work.

The Former school assistants in Eastern Cape and other provinces are still waiting for their promise from the Department of Education.

 

The Department of Education promised that in 2023 when new school assistants will be working, the school assistants will come to work too. They will be coming back to finish the months that they did not work.

 

The contract started in April for E-cadres and handymen or women they got paid their full salaries. They are not expected to go back in 2023.

 

The reading champions and Curriculum started their work in May and they did not work for April. They were told that they will start working one more month in 2023 February.

 

The sports enrichment started work on June and they were told that all these months that they did not work for, they will be called in 2023 to finish them.

 

It looks like the department has forgotten this promise and former Assistants are now losing hope. Some of them are wondering where the money that was supposed to pay them went to.

 

Everyone inside the school must complain. Even the school governing body must complain when there is something that they don’t like.

 

Former assistants went to their districts to complain about this Matter and they revealed that they are ready for 2023, however, the districts revealed that they only know about new assistants, not the old ones.

 

To any former assistant who wants to complain about this must submit a letter to this address: A letter of complaint should be forwarded to Chief Executive Officer, South African Council for Educators (SACE), Private Bag  X 127, Centurion 0046.
